Now you see the earthquake locations marking the subducting Pacific plate beneath North America, the latter shown by the shoreline of Alaska outlined in green.  Convergent plate boundaries, such as the one you see below, generate the largest earthquakes on this planet!

With this visualization of the earthquake locations, hopefully you can see the Pacific plate diving beneath Alaska, which is part of the North America plate.
