Wow a 9.2 Magnitude earthquake - now that is big!

The large magnitude event (9.2) was the largest earthquake recorded in the U.S.
during this century, and occurred on Good Friday in 1964. Note the location of the
plate boundary, which marks the Aleutian Trench and the gray triangles marking the
volcanic arc

This plate boundary has a history of very, very large magnitude earthquakes!!!

Once you answer the question below -- we will look at a slice into the earth along the diagonal red line -- across the trench and line of volcanoes to check our answer!
